South Africa on Friday qualified for the final of the Wills International Cup (Mini World Cup) nine-nation cricket tournament in Dhaka, Bangladesh by defeating World Champions Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka scored 132 for nine wickets in 23.4 overs in reply to South Africa's total of 239 for seven in 39 overs in the rain-hit match. Sri Lanka's target was revised to 224 in 34 overs after rain interrupted the match for the second time.

J.Kallis scored 113 not out for South Africa. The next highest scorer was D.Cullinan (30). Nuwan Zoysa and Upul Chandana took two wickets each.

Sri Lanka's highest scorer was Sanath Jayasuriya (22).

South African all rounder Jaques Kallis hit a sparkling century to help his team reach 240 for 7 in 39 overs on a rain hit day. Overnight rain and a steady drizzle in the morning left one end of the bowlers run up damp and play began only at 5.30 pm.

Ranatunga won the first round of the rain curtailed match by winning the toss and asking South Africa to bat. Sri Lanka were able to capture four South African wickets for 87 runs in 16.2 overs. Soysa bowling with a shorter run up and lesser pace concentrating more on accuracy got rid of Nicky Boje and Mark Boucher.

South Africans had reshuffled their batting order due to the reduction of the overs. Out of the top order only opener Cullinan batted with authority to score 30 off 43 balls with 2 fours.

Kallis strode into the crease with their score reading 87 for 5 in the 17th over. Kallis and Skipper Hansi Cronje were involved in the highest partnership for South Africa adding 81 runs for the fifth wicket. Kallis almost singlehandedly anchored the South African innings. He treat the Lankan spinners with scant respect. Muthiah Muralitheran was hit for three sixes and a couple of fours while Chandana and Jayasuriya conceded a six each.

Kallis completed his 50 with a six over mid wicket off Jayasuriya off 52 balls. He raced to his century without much support from his partners. Kallis completed his 100 off 91 deliveries and at that stage South Africa were 211 for 7. His unbeaten 113 had five fours and an equal number of sixes. Dale Benkenstein joined Kallis after the dismissal of hard hitting Symcox who gave Marvan Atapattu his third catch of the innings. Kallis and Benkenstein added an useful 44 runs for the seventh wicket. Benkenstein was unbeaten on 18 after facing 17 balls.
