South Africa ease through into final
By Peter Deeley in Dhaka

SOUTH AFRICA entered the final of this Wills International Cup
knockout competition at the expense of World Cup holders Sri
Lanka in a rain-affected game, which only ended a few minutes
before midnight under the lights in Dhaka.
Jacques Kallis and Steve Elworthy played a major part in the
surprise result, with Kallis hitting five sixes in an unbeaten
113, his hundred coming in 91 balls.
Elworthy took three top order Sri Lankan wickets on a damp,
skidding surface and a difficult revised target of 224 off 34
overs proved well beyond the Sri Lankans.
Sri Lanka lost by 92 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method after
interval rain reduced the contest by another five overs.
