South Africa 'A' v SL Board XI Match rescheduled

South Africa 'A' made an inauspicious start to their month long tour of Sri Lanka as rain washed off the first day's play of their opening tour match against Sri Lanka Board President's X1 at SSC grounds, Maitland Place yesterday.

Not a ball was bowled on the first day of the three-day game which was to begun last morning. The match has been re-scheduled for three days from today.

Sri Lanka Board X1 is being captained by Sajith Fernando in the opening match. South Africa 'A', will play three four-day unofficial Tests and an equal number of one day 'internationals' during their five-week tour of Sri Lanka.

The first of the three-match unofficial Test series between Sri Lanka 'A' and South Africa 'A' starts at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy on July 22.

The visitors also play another three-day side game at the Moratuwa Stadium from July 28-30.
