Saeed Anwar top scorer of triangular

DHAKA, Jan 19: Pakistan star cricket Saeed Anwar totalled the highest 315 runs from five matches including his 15th ODI century in the independence cup cricket tournament, which concluded at the national stadium on Sunday.

He is the only batsman who scored more than three hundred runs including Sunday's magnificent 140 in the nine-day three nation tournament organised by Bangladesh cricket board marking the silver jubilee of Bangladesh independence.

The Pakistan vice-captain, who hit one century and two half centuries has so far made 5,337 runs in 145 ODIs. He is just two centuries away from record holder west Indian Desmond Haynes who made 17 tons. Anwar's tally also included 22 fifties.

Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin scored the second, highest 284 including one century and two half-centuries to increase his individual score to 7,719 runs recorded from 273 ODIs. he has five hundreds and 47 fifties to his credit. Azhar was followed by Sachin Tendulkar with 258 including three fifties, Sachin, who enrolled his name in the 6,000 club during the first final, has so far scored 6,092 runs in 178 matches.
