SRI LANKA v ZIMBABWE
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At Patna, November 15. Sri Lanka won by 55 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debut: G. J. Whittal.

The tournament's two underdogs came to Patna, the 28th city in India to stage a limited-overs international, and Sri Lanka emerged on top. Their total of 263 was underpinned by 96 in 18 overs from De Silva and Ranatunga, while Ratnayake, called up after Gurusinha was injured, smashed 32 from 15 balls. For Zimbabwe, Waller hit a 46-ball fifty, but only Campbell and the newcomer Guy Whittal offered much support. Both fell to Jayasuriya, whose left-arm spin earned four wickets in four overs.

Man of the Match: A. Ranatunga.
