Sri Lanka: St. Servatius' centenary cricket tourney starts today

THE St. Servatius College Old Boys Association has organised a under 19 limited-over cricket tournament among the schools in the Southern Province to celebrate the centenary of the school. The tourney will start today and the final will be on October 12. All matches at Uyanwatte Stadium, Matara.

Thirteen cricket playing schools _ Richmond, Mahinda and St. Aloysius from Galle, Dharmasoka and Sri Devananda from Ambalangoda, Revata and Siddartha from Balapitiya, Elpitiya Ananda, Meepawala Amarasuriya, St. Thomas,' Rahula and St. Servatius from Matara and Debarawewa N. S. from Hambantota District will be participating.

The tourney will be conducted on a knock-out basis. The sponsors will be Union Bank.

Shan Shanmuganathan _ Managing Director of Union Bank will be the chief guest and the world record beaters Roshan Mahanama and old Servatian Sanath Jayasuriya will be the guests of honour at the opening ceremony at 8.15 a.m. today.

All past cricket captains of St. Servatius have been invited for the opening ceremony.

The champion team will receive Rs. 10,000/- and a trophy, while the runners-up will get a trophy and Rs. 7,500/-. The man of the final and the man of the series will get cash awards. Certificates too will be presented to the winners and runners-up.
