Scores: Waterford 159; Bridgeport 160 for three.

Opening batsman Omar Haynes steered Bridgeport Comprehensive to their first lien on the Corporate Area Colts title at Melbourne Oval yesterday.

Haynes hit 75 not out as his team crushed Waterford Comprehensive by seven wickets.

Resuming on 51 for two, with Haynes 24 and his captain Damion Douglas on four, Bridgeport raced to 144 for three. The pair posted a century stand of 101, before Keron Smith broke the partnership having Douglas caught by Keneil Goulbourne for 46 with the total 16 runs short of the target.

Earlier on Monday's first day Waterford squandered their chances on a good batting wicket.

They were at one time reeling at 78 for seven but were propped up by late order batsmen Robert Miller with 39 and Roland Henry 35. Leading wicket-taker for Bridgeport was Douglas who captured 4 for 49 from 21 overs.
