KARACHI, June 2:

The Pakistan Cricket Board's probe committee, investigating betting and match-fixing is meeting at the Gadhafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday.

The PCB's constitution committee will also be holding deliberations on the same day, member of the two committees, Nusrat Azeem, said on Tuesday.

Azeem, on the probe committee meeting, said the cricket board has been requested to make five cricketers available for examination. The five include Intikhab Alam, Haroon Rasheed (two coaches), Ramiz Raja, Aamir Sohail and Basit Ali.

Azeem, who is the President of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA), stated the five cricketers will be questioned in detail about the attitude and behaviour of the alleged players on various tours.

``Ramiz (Raja), Aamir (Sohail) and Basit (Ali) will be asked to substantiate the allegations they have made in the recent past,'' Azeem said.

Azeem, however, maintained that so far his committee has received only complaints but no evidence. ``We want evidence and are searching for them. Allegations are not enough to penalise a player.''

The meeting will be chaired by Justice Ijaz Yousuf and will also be attended by Mian Munir and Waqar Ahmad, besides Nusrat Azeem.

The senior most Executive Council member denied impressions that the constitution committee would be recommending more powers to the chairman of the board. ``The distribution of power, we think, is appropriate. So there is no reason we should waste our time on it.''

He, however, said the basic idea of the meeting was to discuss and suggest the board to give separate membership to Balochistan and NWFP in the cricket board.

He added that the departments have been asked to explain how many teams and grounds they can manage so that the specific clause in the constitution may be made flexible. According to the constitution, each departmental team should have five teams and two grounds to qualify as full members.
