Six-a-side cricket at Aquinas a success

An inter-class six-a-side cricket tournament was organised for the first time in the history of Aquinas College of Higher Studies, Borella by the Catholic Students' Movement.

There was keen competition among 26 teams for the Aquinas Trophy which was won by Preliminary B class.

The award for Best Bowler and Man of the series was won by Nilantha Jayawardena while Sameera Chinthaka bagged the award for best batsman. Rangana Nidarsha was nominated Man of the Match.

Ragama CC by nine wickets

Ragama CC scored a convincing nine wicket win over Colombo Campus, in their final preliminary round match of the division II tournament played at Wattala.

For Ragama CC, brothers Chaminda Hettiarachchi 102, and Chandika Hettiarachchi 65 added 120 runs for the third wicket. Lucian Wijesinghe's 26 and match bagof 6/68 and Chinthana Jayawardane 60 off 30 balls also helped Ragama in their victory effort. For Colombo Campus K. Saparamadu the skipper fought a lone battle scoring 24 and 119 and also taking 4/46.

Col. Campus: 146 all out. (K. Saparamadu 24, T. Silva 23, Emil Dias 4/43, Lucian Wijesinghe 2/12) and 235 all out. (K. Saparamadu 119, Lucian Wijesinghe 4/56, Chandika Hettiarachchi 2/54).

Ragama CC: 288/9 dec (Chaminda Hettiarachchi 102, Chandika Hettiarachchi 65, Lucian Wijesinghe 26, K. Saparamadu 4/46) and 95/1 in 94 overs (Chinthana Jayawardane 60 not out, Namal Sudarshana 30).
