CRICKET: Former West Indies opening batsman Robert Samuels pilotted leaders Melbourne to first innings points over Police with a masterful century in their drawn seventh round Senior Cup game at Elletson Road Sports Complex yesterday.

Scores: Police 233 (Alton Williams 60, Dixieth Palmer 51; Kevin Wilson three for 36, Donovan Samuels two for 23, Marlon Samuels two for 75) and 125 for two (Palmer 62 not out); Melbourne 306 (Robert Samuels 145 with five sixes and 12 fours from 172 balls, Christopher Chung 49, Marlon Samuels 44; Garvey Maceo schoolboy Wayne Mills four for 25).

Samuels who along with brother Marlon put on 133 runs in a second wicket partnership was sixth man out caught by Kenute Asquit off Mills, a right-arm leg spinner bowling his first over at the Senior Cup level.

At Sabina Park: Defending champions Kensigton gained first innings points over Kingston in their drawn game. Scores: Kingston 142 all out and 190 for eight wickets, Kensington 197 for nine declared.

Resuming from their overnight score of 97 for five, Kensington were pushed to first innings points by Brian Murphy with a patient 40, Kirk Powell 24 not out and Errol Wilson 21. Dwight Mais took four for 69, Ryan Cunningham three for 42 and Nehemiah Perry two for 26.

At Kensington Park: Boys' Town gained first innings points from St. Thomas.

Highlight of this match was a century innings of 116 from Boys' Town veteran batsman Winston Steele on Saturday. Steele and Marlon Keating (88) posted 175 runs for the third wicket in Boys' Town first innings score of 240 for five declared. St. Thomas in rely made 117 (Leon Hutchinson 52, Lebert Burton 29; Hebert Haye five for 17 off 15 overs, Omar Burke three for 43) and forced to follow on, 185 for six (Garnett Downie 78 run out, Hutchinson 41, Clive Scott 21 not out; Haye two for 31, Winston Myers two for 31).

At Up Park Camp: Jamaica Defence Force beat Portland by six wickets. Portland 140, Wayne Cuff taking five for 37, and 106 (Anthony Folkes three for four, Layton Brown three for 20). JDF 197 (Folkes 72; Paul Hewitt five for 60).

At Chedwin Park: The match between St. Catherine and Lucas was abandoned early yesterday, without a ball being bowled, due to a flooded outfield resulting from heavy rain from Saturday.
