The proceedings were held in-camera. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Khalid Mahmood, PCB chief executive Majid Khan, Australian team's coach Geoff Marsh and their cricket board's chief executive officer Malcolm Speed attended the proceedings. Saleem Malik appeared with his counsel Khawaja Saeeduz Zafar.

Mr Khalid Mahmood briefed the journalists about the proceedings that the Australian players made statements to the effect that during the 1994 tour Saleem Malik offered them money to throw a match.

The PCB chairman said that the Australian players could not offer any explanation as to why they did not inform the Pakistan cricket authorities about the incident before leaving the country and why it took them four months to disclose the incident.

He said that Saleem Malik was summoned on a very short notice. He joined the proceedings halfway through. The chairman said that the Pakistani player's counsel sought adjournment on the ground that he needed time to prepare a brief for cross-examining the Australians. The request was not allowed.

Replying to a question, the chairman said that the Australians have levelled allegations only against one player, Saleem Malik.
