Wills Cup: Umpires, match referees named

DHAKA, Oct 21: A 14-member New Zealand team, led by Stephen Fleming, arrived in the capital Tuesday night to participate in the International Cup Cricket beginning Oct. 24 (Saturday).

New Zealand will take on Zimbabwe in the inaugural match of the day-night knock-out tournament.

Members of the team are: Stephen Fleming (Captain), Geoff Allott, Mark Bailey, Simon Doull, Mathew Horn, Shayne O'Connor, Alex Tait, Paul Wiseman, Nathan Astle, Mathew Bell, Chris Harris, Craig McMillan, Adam Parore and Daniel Vettori.

The team is accompanied by John Graham (Manager), Steve Rixon (Coach), Mark Harrison (Physiotherapist), Ashley Ross (Technical Adviser) and Gilbert Enoka (Player Coordinator).

Umpires

West Indian Steve Bucknor and England's Peter Willey will stand as umpires in the opening match between New Zealand and Zimbabwe.

David Shepherd will take charge as TV umpire while Raman Subba Row will be the ICC match referee.

Other umpires selected for the mini World Cup are: Srinivas Venkatraghavan (India), Steve Dunne (New Zealand) and Dave Orchard (South Africa).

Former Sri Lankan captain Ranjan Madugalle is the other match referee.

The umpires have been selected only for the pre-quarterfinal (NZ-Zimbabwe) and four quarterfinals. Umpires for the semi-finals and the final will be announced later.

Oct 24: New Zealand vs Zimbabwe (Umpires - Bucknor and Willey, TV umpire - Shepherd, match referee - Subba Row).
Oct 25: England vs South Africa (Umpires - Venkatraghaban and Dunne, TV umpire - Bucknor, match referee - Madugalle).
Oct 26: Sri Lanka vs Winner of New Zealand-Zimbabwe match (Umpires Shepherd and Willey, TV umpire - Venkatraghavan, match referee - Subba Row).
Oct 28: Australia vs India (Umpires - Bucknor and Dunne, TV umpire Orchard, match referee - Madugalle).
Oct 29: Pakistan vs West Indies (Umpires - Shepherd and Orchard, TV umpire - Willey, match referee - Subba Row).
