In a day's cricket there is always a hero, and today the hero status belonged to Victorian-born, Brisbane Bull, Adam Dale.

'Chippen' as he is affectionately known to his teammates was at his ruthless best today as he trapped four West Indian Board XI batsmen lbw, and took three other poles to finish with the outstanding figures of 7-24 off 13.3 overs.

At the breakfast table this morning 'Chippen' was like a four-year old on Christmas morning. He was so excited about bowling on this pitch that he was up early getting ready for the day ahead. His enthusiasm obviously paid dividends as he used his trademark accuracy and swing to frustrate the West Indian batsmen into costly mistakes.

On the field the guys were joking that his bowling is like an old house wife, as he nagged away at the stumps with determined patience.

A self-confessed Collingwood Magpies supporter and proud father, 'Chip' is having a magnificent cricket season. His contribution in the Carlton & United one-day series was outstanding and I would be surprised if he isn't an integral part of the World Cup campaign in April. His one-day standing on the international arena is growing rapidly, and considering today was his third seven-wicket first-class haul this summer, 'Chip' is in line for a late entry into the Test arena.

While he has already played one Test for Australia, he could be an important factor in this series. His unwavering accuracy could be the perfect foil for speed demons Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie and spinners Warne, MacGill and Miller. One thing is for sure, I am glad I am not on the selection committee before the first Test in Trinidad. With all the guys in great form with bat and ball, the four players that have to miss out on the first Test could consider themselves desperately unlucky.
