Trailing by 109 runs on the first innings, Benedictines were forced to follow on but they made a healthy 190 for 3 at close. It was a fighting 118-run opening partnership between Chintaka Perera (90) and Jerome Adams (49) that saved them, after some poor batting in the first innings.

Fine knock of 78 by Ranga

S M Jiffrey Abdeen

Half centuries by skipper Ranga Dissanayake 78 (6 fours, 4 sixes) are Zahran Hajireen 61 (4 fours) for St. Sylvester's College was the highlight of their School's Lemonade Cup Cricket Tournament match against Thurstan College which ended in a draw at University Grounds, Peradeniya yesterday.

St. Sylvester's who were 107 for no wicket overnight did not capitalise much from this as they lost both openers quite early with two runs being added to the overnight score. Only redeeming feature was that they overtook their opponent's score. At close Thurstanites had replied with 117 for 4 with N. de Silva scoring 61 which was his second half ton of the match.

Scores:

Thurstan College: 215 and 117 for 4 in 44 overs, 210 mts. (N. de Silva 61, D. Premadasa 14, A. Dayananda 19, N. Randika 15, A. Perera 2 for 20, C. Ratnayake 2 for 17).
