The Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club which has a history of 129 years, started by British planters in 1870, has undertaken a massive fund-raising project to upgrade the two ancient billiard tables which are over 75 years old.

The DMCC will be transformed into typical carnival on February 13, beginning with a snooker tournament which will be held amidst scintillating live calypso music. Many more colourful events are on the card on February 13.

On February 13, the DMCC has organised a Valentine Dance and the highlight of the event will be the selection of the Valentine Queen in the early hours of February 14, Valentine Day.

On February 13, the day's program will begin with an Open Snooker Tournament which is open to all snooker clubs in Sri Lanka. Entries for this tournament will close on January 31, and should be addressed to Ananda Subasinghe Billiard Convenor, Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club, Dickoya. Valuable prizes are being offered to the winners as well as runners-up

Mr. Subasinghe said the event is being organised with the unstinted co-operation of the President, DMCC, Raja Brodie and Secretary, Ranga Gunasekera. All members of the DMCC have extended their fullest co-operation towards making the event most memorable, Mr. Brodie said.

The DMCC has become the most prestigious planters' clubs in Sri Lanka, situated in the beautiful hill country of Dickoya covered with golden tea plantations. It has a large scale membership.
