European clubs' festival to welcome german champions
Tony Munro - 6 June 1999

Organisers of the 1999 E.C.C. Clubs' Festival are waiting for confirmation of the participation of 1998 German champion, DSSC Berlin, in this month's tournament, following the withdrawal of Austrian title-holder, Lords C.C.

After originally being excluded due to a late application, RSSC Berlin is now ironically being sought by organisers to fill the void left by Lords C.C. for the eight-team, six-day meeting of European club champions to start in Limavady, Northern Ireland on June 21.

The confirmed (so far) participants are host and reigning E.C.C. Clubs' Festival champion, Limavady C.C., Irish champion, Strabane, Paris University (France), Lions Lod (Israel), Pianoro (Italy), Javea C.C. (Spain) and Spanga United (Sweden).

Overtures were made to the Dutch champion, VRA Amstelveen and the Danish champion to participate but they were unable to compete due to scheduling problems.

Officials are hoping to include the English club champions in future.
