The Christchurch Press Protea flies to nuptial match
The Christchurch Press - 31 March 1999

South African cricketer Nicky Boje will get to the church on time for his wedding day on Saturday even if he plays for the Proteas today.

Boje is marrying near Cape Town and will make his date by flying home tomorrow and arriving Friday.

However, he will not have his team-mates for company as Boje will travel Singapore Airlines to ensure he gets home while the rest of the team will travel by their national carrier, South African Airlines, on Friday.

All the Proteas could still leave together today if bad weather washes out the reserve day early enough for them to take their originally scheduled 2.30pm flight from Wellington to Sydney.

``Nicky will get back in time for his big day. We are making sure of that,'' said Proteas coach Bob Woolmer.

Boje has arranged his wedding at this time so he can have a honeymoon in April before the World Cup schedule in May and June.

Despite being keen to head home, Woolmer said his team was prepared to play today if conditions allowed.
