Marshall recovering
Tony Cozier - 25 May 1999

West Indies team coach Malcolm Marshall is in a stable condition following ``a major abdominal operation'' at a hospital in Birmingham, England, last Saturday, Dr.Rudi Webster said yesterday.

``Malcolm has had major abdominal surgery and is recovering and in a stable condition,'' Dr Webster, the performance consultant and doctor attached to the team, said in a statement. ``He is ecpected to stay in hospital for approximately 10 days, provided the post-operative recovery is uneventful.''

Team manager Clive Lloyd said he had been ``in regular touch'' with both Dr.Webster and the hospital about Marshall's condition. ``We hope the victory over New Zealand (at Southampton yesterday) would be a boost for him,'' Lloyd said.
