Ranji Teams for Delhi and Haryana

Ajay Sharma to lead Delhi

New Delhi,Oct 16 : Ajay sharma will lead Delhi this season in the Four-day as well as one-day fixtures of national championship Ranji Trophy commencing on October 23. The 16-member side was announced by Delhi and District Cricket Association senior selection committee, which met under the chairmanship of Mr Sunil Dev, here on friday evening.

Pankaj Joshi and Akash Chopra are missing from last season's side as they are on the injured list.The newcomers include batsman Vishal Sharma in the four-day line-up and Gagan Malik for the one-day matches.Sunil Joshi will replace Nikhil chopra whenever the letter is called for national duty. The Delhi team will take on Services in the first league encounter.

Four-day squad:

Ajay Sharma (Captain), Vijay Dahiya, Ashu Dani, Akash Malhotra, Devender sharma, Virender Sehwag, Nikhil Chopra, Rahul Sanghvi, Vishal sharma, Sandeep Angurala, Sohail Rauf,Amit Bhandari, Ashish Nehra, Robin Singh, Arun Singh and Mithun Manhas.

One-day squad:

Ajay Sharma (Captain), Vijay Dahiya, Ashu Dani, Virender Sehwag, Mithun Minhas, Nikhil Chopra, Amit Bhandari, Ashish Nehra, Rajesh Gehlot, Ashish Malhotra, Harinder Choudhary, Rahul Sanghvi, Neeraj Chawla, Rajeev Rathore, Sohail Rauf and Gagan Malik.

Parinder to lead Haryana

Chandigarh, October 16 : Parinder Sharma of Bhiwani will lead Haryana this year in the Ranji Trophy. He was named captain in the selection committee maating held at Rohtak.

According to Mr O.P.Taneja,Joint Secretary,Haryana Cricket Association and convenor of the maating, the choice of the captain was unanimous. on being quizzes why the name of national stars Ajay Jadeja and Vijay Yadav, who led the side in the last season were not considered, Mr Taneja informed that thet did not attend the trails and gave no information to the HCA regarding their availability. As such their names for not even considered for selection. Haryana will take on Jammu-kashmir team from October 23 at Faridabad in its first league tie.

The selection committee which met under the chairmanship of Rajinder Goel named 21 players for this year,s Ranji Trophy. Many of the cricketers who have been representing the state have been axed. Opening batsman Nitin goel, Leg spinner Pradeep Jain ,All-rounder Dhanraj Singh and batsman Shaqif Khan also could not find a place in the team.

The team members are Parinder Sharma(Captain), Amarjit Kaypee, jitender Singh, Rajesh Puri, Ajay Ratra, Jasbir Singh, Manish Sakhalkar, Vaneet Jain, Surinder Kataria, Joginder Sharma, Sonu sharma, Sanjay Jhakhar, Pankaj thakur, Sanjay Dalal, Prasant Ahlawat, Satish Ohlawan, Padamjit Sherawat, Rajesh Bura, Sanjay Balwant, Rishi Khanna and Girish Bhano.
