Nasser Hussain has dismissed the idea of reducing Test matches to four-days. The England captain was reacting to comments by the current Chief Executive of the ACB, and the man soon to take over as Chief Executive of the ICC, Malcolm Speed, who suggested that a reduction in the length of Tests may make the game more attractive.

Former Australian captain, Mark Taylor, has also lent his support to the idea. He welcomed a fresh look at the game, saying: "Just because a Test match has always been five days doesn't mean you can't change it."

But Hussain told the Sunday Telegraph that the game doesn't need any changes, pointing to the exciting cricket played recently to illustrate his point. "I think the Test cricket we've been playing for the last few years has been a fine shop-window for the game," he said. "People are too drugged up on quick-fix cricket so I don't think it's one of the best ideas I've heard."

"If Test cricket has survived this long there can't be much wrong with it and if it ain't broken don't fix it. Even if a game does end in a bore draw there's likely to have been some pretty exciting stuff along the way."
