2 April 2001

Wicketkeeper Aamir Iqbal hit an undefeated whirlwind century but skipper Aamir Bashir missed three figures as Pakistan Customs headed for a match-winning first innings lead against Allied Bank.

When the stumps were drawn for the second day at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Customs were 355 for six after having resumed this morning at 53 for one. Customs are already 209 runs with six wickets remaining against the bankers who collected a modest 146.

Aamir was batting on 102 and is involved in an unbroken 107-run seventh wicket stand with Mohtashim Rasheed whose contribution is 35 from 69 balls with the aid of four boundaries.

Aamir has faced 137 deliveries out of which 13 have been converted into boundaries.

The wicketkeeper was also associated in a 80-run sixth wicket stand with Aamir Bashir who was unlucky to miss his century by three runs. He was adjudged LBW off Ata-ur-Rehman.

Aamir Bashir's 205-ball knock was studded with 15 boundaries.

For the bankers, former Test pacer Aqib Javed led from the front when he picked up three wickets for 103 runs from 41 overs.
