McGarrell is the new face in West Indies squad for Fourth Test
George Dobell - 4 April 2001

The West Indies have brought Neil McGarrell into their squad for the Fourth Test against South Africa starting on Friday in Antigua.

McGarrell is a Guyanese team-mate of captain Carl Hooper and has enjoyed a good domestic season in the Busta Cup. Primarily a left-arm spinner he is also a capable batsman and an excellent fielder. He has previously played five one-day internationals, as well as representing West Indies A.

It is bad luck for Dave Mohammed, however. The Trinidad and Tobago youngster was called into the squad for the Third Test but has now been dropped from the squad before playing a game.

South Africa lead the five match series 1-0.

Squad:Carl Hooper (captain), Wavell Hinds, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brian Lara, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Ridley Jacobs, Neil McGarrell, Merv Dillon, Dinanath Ramnarine, Cameron Cuffy and Courtney Walsh.
