The Executive Committee of the Derbyshire County Cricket League has met to discuss the problem posed by the foot and mouth virus to league cricket.

The committee decided unanimously that all matches should be played, but will accept requests to rearrange some fixtures. The hope is to complete the season on September 9th, but an extension of two weeks is a possibility. Clubs are "urged to apply themselves promptly to making alternative arrangements."

About 18 teams are thought to be affected by restrictions brought about by the virus. Although they are all thought to be able to travel to their grounds unhindered, there is a potential problem with straying onto neighbouring land if, for example, they need to retrieve a ball.

The 18 clubs thought to be affected, at present, are: Ashbourne, Aston on Trent, Belper Amateurs, Brailsford, Cromford Meadows, Darley Dale, Dunstall, Elvaston, Kirk Langley, Marehay, Middleton, Morton, Mugginton, Rolleston, Selston, Shipley Hall, Stainsby Hall, and Ticknall.
