Stokes Valley come out on top with convincing national club final win

Wellington's Stokes Valley produced a come from behind effort to win the Sovereign National Club Championship from Cornwall at Cornwall Park in Auckland today.

Cornwall were all out in the 36th over for 119 runs with Matthew Walker coming up trumps taking three wickets for 11 runs.

Then, just to complete a notable day, Walker was 60 not out when Stokes Valley passed their target for the loss of three wickets. Kyle Wealleans was also not out, on 31.

East Christchurch-Shirley, who had just missed out on making the finals, had another blow today when beaten by Napier Technical Old Boys for third place.

East Christchurch-Shirley batted first and were all out in the 44th over for 145 runs. Napier TOB then made no chase of the run target by achieving the victory after 25.5 overs, although they were seven wickets down.

Hamilton's Eastern Suburbs beat North East Valley when scoring 239/9 in 50 overs and then dismissed the Dunedin side for 137 in 35 overs.
