Canterbury club award winners
Canterbury Cricket Association - 17 April 2001

The annual Canterbury Cricket Association Club Awards Evening was held last Tuesday. The Awards Evening celebrated the achievements of players, clubs, administrators and officials over the 2000/2001 season. Jo Strachan, from the Lancaster Park/Woolston Club, and Michael Papps from East Christchurch Shirley, were rewarded for a excellent season by winning the Women's and Men's Player of The Year Awards respectively. The R.W Conway Cup for the "Most Improved Umpire" was won jointly by David Stuthridge and Colin Fenwick. High School Old Boys were the most consistent club across all grades and were recognised by winning the Petersen Shield. Another notable award was the Walter Hadlee Trophy, which is awarded to the 1st Grade Men's team which shows the most consistency in sportsmanship, punctually and dress. For the 2000/2001 season the Walter Hadlee Trophy was won by East Christchurch Shirley.
