Free entry for under-16s at The Oval
Media Release - 19 April 2001

Surrey County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that children aged 16 or under who are accompanied by an adult will by admitted to The Foster's Oval free of charge for all Norwich Union National League and Championship cricket e(excluding the Guildford and Whitgift festivals).

Paul Sheldon, Chief Executive of Surrey CCC, stated: "Last season's unprecedented full house on the last day of the Test Match between England and the West Indies was partly due to our policy of letting children aged 16 and under into the ground free of charge.

"We feel that it is in the interests of the game to continue this policy for domestic cricket. All those 16 and under who want to come down to The Foster's Oval will be able to do so without being charged just as long as they are accompanied by an adult. We at Surrey are committed to doing everything in our power to encourage and stimulate the interest of young girls and boys in the game."

For those who wish to become Junior Members, Surrey has once again kept the price at £10. This gives a junior access to Members' areas such as the Pavilion, limited priority booking for all international cricket, admission to the Members' facilities at Guildford and Whitgift, the Surrey Yearbook and the quarterly publication of Surrey's Official magazine Direct Hit. Surrey currently have 1,750 Junior Members. Membership eligibility is 17 years and under on the 31 December 2000.

Facts For 2001 - The Surrey Squad: Has thirteen international players; Are favourites to win all four major competitions; Are in the First Division of both the County Championship and the Norwich Union National League; Are going for their third County Championship in a row; Have the potential to field only the second all-Test XI in county history; The Fosters Oval was the first Test Match venue to sell out on all international cricket this season.
