ECB hosts launch of new sports document
ECB Media Release - 19 April 2001

The ECB will host the media launch of the Central Council of Physical Recreation's document, called Two Sides of the Same Coin, on Friday 20 April at 9.30am at the ECB offices, Lord's Cricket Ground. Attendees include the Rt Hon Chris Smith MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport; Tim Lamb, ECB Chief Executive; Adam Crozier, FA Chief Executive, and Maurice Lindsay, Chairman of the CCPR Major Spectator Sports Division.

Two Sides of the Same Coin highlights the expenditure of £91 million by the governing bodies of the major spectator sports in Britain to the development of grassroots sport during 2000. This money is in excess of the minimum 5% contribution promised in accordance with the CCPR Voluntary Code of TV Sports Broadcasting Rights by the signatories.

These include: The England and Wales Cricket Board, The Football Association, The Premier League, The Rugby Football Union, The Rugby Football League, The Lawn Tennis Association, The European PGA Tour, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

The ECB currently commits 11% of broadcasting revenue to the development of the game, with The Cricket Foundation allocating £3m per year directly to grassroots cricket.
