ECB National Cricket Academy
ECB Job Vacancy - 19 April 2001

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for cricket from playground to Test arena. Its Performance Department is responsible for identifying and developing the most talented young cricketers in the country, and the development and implementation of national development and coaching programmes.

In order to continue the substantial progress made to date, the ECB, with support from Sport England, is seeking to appoint three highly-motivated individuals to form the initial top management team of the National Cricket Academy committed to raising standards of performance and identifying and developing the England players of the future.

Initially, the Academy will be based in Adelaide, Australia during the period October – March 2001 until a UK base is established.

The main tasks of each post will be closely aligned to national development programmes and strategies, with scope to make a substantial contribution to the future development of the England teams.

National Academy Director

Responsible for the development and implementation of a World-Class National Academy. The successful candidate will possess wide international knowledge of the organisation and culture of cricket and have experience of managing and developing programmes for elite players. Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills are required and, as a minimum, ECB Level III coaching award or international equivalent.

National Academy Manager

Involves the efficient implementation and management of the National Academy programme and programmes for all accredited County Academies. Experience in managing strategic programmes within sport is essential, as are excellent organisational and influencing skills. An ECB coaching award would be an advantage.

National Academy Assistant Coach

To provide direct coaching support as determined by the National Academy Director and the design and establishment of individual programmes and targets for elite players. A good knowledge of first-class and international cricket is an essential requirement as is an ECB Level III coaching award or international equivalent.
