The South African one-day team start their campaign to earn Standard Bank's R5-million World Cup incentive when they take on the West Indies team on Saturday 28 April in their first limited overs match.

The bank will pay R1-million into a kitty for every one of five selected limited overs series - starting with the current rubber against the West Indies - the national team wins before the 2003 World Cup. The other series are those against India, two against Australia and the triangular involving Sri Lanka and Pakistan. By winning all five, the team could accumulate R5 million in the kitty.

If the team wins the 2003 World Cup, 20 percent of the kitty will be donated to a designated development project and the remaining 80 percent will be shared amongst the squad. Assuming the team accumulates R5-million, this means that the development project will get R1-milllion and the team R4-million.

Should the squad lose the final of the World Cup, then it will receive only 30 percent of the money it could have earned had it won the tournament. So, if there was R5-million in the kitty, the team gets 30 percent of the R4 million while 30 percent of the R1 million will be donated to cricket development.
