Second day's play at New Road washed out
CricInfo - 26 April 2001

More rain in the Worcester area has seen the second day of the Second Division CricInfo Championship match between Worcestershire and Sussex called off without a ball being bowled.

With both the first two days washed out the chances are that any result will need the help of contrivance between the two captains.

The New Road pitch is used to being flooded over the winter months, but this year the level of water was unprecedented. With the water table high, any more rainfall is likely to result in the whole of this game being abandoned as well as threatening future games at the ground.
