Lancashire and Surrey were again prevented by the weather from taking the field on the third day of their CricInfo Championship match at Old Trafford.

The two title hopefuls, yet to bowl a ball in the game after the first two days were washed out, had been hoping for an improvement today after a dry night.

But following a series of inspections, umpires Bob White and Allan Jones decided the outfield was still too wet and abandoned play for the day.
