Under-16s can see C&G final for a fiver
Media Release - 10 August 2001

MCC and the ECB are pleased to announce their 'Final for a Fiver' campaign, which allows all under-sixteens to be admitted to the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy Final at Lord's on Saturday 1st September for just £5.

In addition, there will be free of charge admission for children involved in the Channel 4 Inner City Cricket Initiative and the Buxton MCC Cricket Challenge supported by Sportsmatch.

It is hoped that the move will encourage more families to attend the traditional end-of-season domestic one-day final and follows on from MCC's current Kids 4 Free initiative which allows all under-sixteens to be admitted to Lord's free of charge throughout August.

Roger Knight, Secretary & Chief Executive of MCC, said, "I am delighted that we are able to offer this opportunity to under-sixteens to visit Lord's and attend the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy Final for only £5. In particular, I hope that those who will be visiting the ground and may be encountering cricket for the first time will enjoy the experience and will continue to follow the game."

Tim Lamb, ECB Chief Executive, said, "Cricket needs to continue to attract a young audience and I am pleased to announce this campaign. This initiative succeeds other recent ticket-pricing programmes which have seen under sixteens admitted for half price at all international matches, and free for the final day of the Old Trafford Test Match against Pakistan earlier this summer."

Somerset, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Lancashire remain in the hunt for the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. The semi-final matches will be played at Taunton and Leicester this weekend.

All who have already purchased tickets for under sixteens will be contacted by MCC and offered the relevant refund.
