Gillespie grabs 100th Test wicket
Wisden CricInfo staff - August 4, 2001

NOTTINGHAM (Reuters)
Australia fast bowler Jason Gillespie has proved his own worst enemy again as he took his 100th Test wicket in the third Ashes Test.

The 26-year-old 6ft 5ins right-armer dislikes publicity but inevitably earned himself a few more headlines at Trent Bridge as he helped wrap up the England innings with three quick wickets.

He now has 100 wickets at 22.18 apiece, a better average than Shane Warne's and within a whisker of Glenn McGrath's.

Gillespie, however, while constantly praised by his team mates -- Warne said he had bowled "absolutely sensationally" on Friday-- rarely seems to get the same credit.

His reluctance to be interviewed in any depth may play a part. "I don't like people knowing much about me. I don't think it's other people's business apart from mine," he says.

"I'll let the other players grow their profiles."
