Wonderful camerawork from Channel 4 yesterday evening when Ponting reached his century. In super slo-mo he punched the air, saluted his team-mates and cried "You ****in' beauty!" (In case you missed it live, they showed it another 263 times on the highlights.) Usually, of course, it's the bowlers who are caught in the act. Ball takes the edge, flies to third slip, who drops it. Cut to Allan Donald doing double teapot. "****!" he says, and millions of tiny deaf old ladies gasp in horror. You can see why Merv Hughes grew that moustache: it hid a multitude of sins. More Berkmann Riffs
