Off-side plunderer
Wisden CricInfo staff - August 25, 2001

No wonder the Indian captain scored 70% of his runs in the area from third man to cover: 65% of the balls he faced were on or outside off-stump. It probably wouldn't have mattered if the Sri Lankan bowlers had targeted his leg stump more: he scored just as freely off the few balls he received in that area. The chart shows that the home side would probably have slowed him down if they'd aimed straighter: he scored only two runs from 21 balls on middle stump.

As it was, while Ganguly was leading India to victory (and taking some of the knives out of his back), even Muttiah Muralitharan was conceding 95 runs from 25 overs.
