England v South Africa 1905-06
Wisden CricInfo staff - August 31, 2001

Played at Johannesburg, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, March 6, 7, 8.- It was a pity that the last four test matches should have been crowded into the last month of the tour. When March came the Englishmen were not so fresh as they had been, some of them having found the heat and dust rather trying. At any rate, in this second match the team cut a sorry figure, never recovering from a bad first innings. South Africa gained a substantial advantage on the second day and won in the end by nine wickets. Sinclair hit a 6 and seven 4's in his brilliant 66. In the English team's second innings four of the best wickets fell for 25, and though Fane and Relf did their best they could not pull the game round. Fane gave a chance when 28, but otherwise his 65 was a fine innings.
