* Azhar's petition challenging ban will now be heard on September 12

A city civil court in Hyderabad on Monday adjourned the hearing of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin 's petition challenging the life ban imposed on him by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to September 12.

J Shyam Sunder Rao, second additional chief judge of the city civil court, posted the hearing for next month as the interim stay granted last month by the High Court on further proceedings of the case following a revision petition filed by BCCI in the High Court was not yet vacated.

* Karim plans to set-up academy in Patna

Ex-India stumper Saba Karim is the latest former cricketer who has been bitten by the "starting an academy" bug. He has approached the Bihar government asking them to grant him a plot of land to set up an academy for deserving youngsters in Patna.

Bihar strongman and current Cricket Association President Laloo Prasad Yadav seems to have taken a favourable view of Karim's request. "He is keen that I do something for Bihar. He reacted very positively to my request," Karim, who was born and brought up in Patna, told PTI in Kolkata on Wednesday.

"Once my request for land comes through, I'll chalk out a detailed plan for the Academy," he said. "'I believe there is a good number of potential cricketers in these states (Bihar and Jharkand), but they are not being harnessed properly due to the absence of a good academy."

Meanwhile, Karim would be conducting a ten-day clinic for young hopefuls in Patna between October 17 and October 27. He will be assisted by former India medium-pacer Subroto Banerjee and left-arm spinner Avinash Kumar.
