Dawn Training camp in full swing
7 December 2001

The national junior camp, in progress here at the Rawalpindi Stadium, is focussing on the weak areas identified during the recent home series against Sri Lanka.

The camp, in preparation for the Junior World Cup in New Zealand next year, has 14 players in training named for the tournament by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Coach Haroon Rasheed told Dawn Thursday that the boys were undergoing rigorous training that includes batting, bowling and fielding sessions from 10 am to 2 pm.

"We are trying to remove the weaknesses which we saw in the team during the series against the Sri Lankans," Haroon said.

The training of the players is to continue till Dec 12 after which the camp breaks for Eid before the boys reassemble again on Dec 20.

Haroon said that target bowling and batting were also being practised in the camp and matches between the bowlers and the batsmen were being planned. "We are also hoping to play some games against the Pakistan A team."

"We are almost busy day and night because at night we analyse videos of the Sri Lanka series to rectify whatever flaws the players have."

After the camp restarts on Dec 20 it will continue till the first week of January.
