PCB approves Bahawalpur DCA elections
Pakistan Cricket Board - 7 December 2001

Chairman PCB has approved the elections of the District Cricket Association, Bahawalpur which were held recently.

According to the election results, Saud Majeed was elected President, Khalid Rehmani General Secretary, Jahangir Alvi Treasurer, while Mohammad Saeed, and Basit Shakrani were elected members the Executive Committee. All office-bearers were returned unopposed. An official of the PCB, Maj. Retd. Ahmed Anwar was also present during the elections.

Earlier, after completion of a thorough and an impartial scrutiny, 14 clubs of Bahawalpur District were declared duly eligible to participate in the voting for the District Cricket Association elections.

These clubs are Sutlej, Khawaja Farid, Jinnah Sports, New model, Haidri, Leapord Green, Decent, Eaglets, Trust, Cholistan, New Green from Bahawalpur, Alfatah, Gulshan from Ahmedpur East, and Crescent from Hasilpur.

A total of 40 clubs of the District participated in the District Cricket Tournament to complete the scrutiny process, which was sponsored by Pakistan Cricket Board and monitored by Army officials.

In order to maintain complete transparency in the scrutiny and the election process, Chairman PCB had elicited the help of local army formation. The process enabled the task to be handled by a neutral and impartial agency.
