Jason Kerr signs for Derbyshire
Richard Walsh - 7 December 2001

It has been officially announced by Derbyshire today that former Somerset bowler Jason Kerr has joined them on a two year contract.

Jason made his debut for Somerset in 1993 but last season was unable to gain a regular first team place.

At the end of the 2001 season, during which he played in six County Championship and 8 Norwich Union League matches he was offered a further one year contact.

It will come as no surprise that Jason Kerr has joined the midland county. Derbyshire are currently coached by Colin Wells who was Dermot Reeves assistant at The County Ground. Derbyshire wicket-keeper Luke Sutton, who enjoyed his best ever season in 2001 is another Somerset "old boy", and another former Somerset player Adrian Pierson is assistant coach at Derbyshire and is in charge of the second team.
