Canterbury Under-19 team for national tournament named
Canterbury Cricket Association - 11 December 2001

The Canterbury Under-19 selectors have named the following team to play in the National Under-19 Tournament which will be held in Auckland, from December 27 to January 2, 2002. The team, which will be coached by Garfield Charles, will be playing a pre-tournament match against local adversary, Otago on December 18, 19 and 20 in Oamaru. The team is:

James Biddick
Peter Borren
Neil Broom
Leighton Burtt
William Catherwood
Fraser Hawes
Jeremy Kench
Michael Jones
Andrew Robertson
Iain Robertson
Paddy Reardon
Cameron Stone

Tim Foley and David Hay have been named as non-travelling reserves. The team, which will be captained by James Biddick, will be defending a title that it has won over the past 2 seasons. With a number of new faces in the team and some players having already been identified by New Zealand Cricket's Talent ID programme, coach Garfield Charles is confident of a strong showing at this years tournament.

Recently Burtt, Borren, Broom and Hawes were included in the New Zealand Under-19 Squad from which a team will be selected to compete in the Under-19 World Cup in Christchurch from January 19 to February 9, 2002.
