Milo Trophy Final
Canterbury Cricket Association - 17 December 2001

The Milo Trophy Final will be played tomorrow between Oaklands School and Elmwood School. The match will be played on the artificial wicket in the Oaklands School playground starting at 1.30pm.

Both teams qualified for the 2001 Milo Trophy Final with hard-fought semi-final wins against last years finalists. Oaklands beat Springston, with the result in doubt right too the last ball of the game, while Elmwood beat Windsor in the last over.

Tomorrow's final is the culmination of over 80 games over the last term and it is fitting that the two most consistent teams will fight it out. Neither side have lost a game, winning all pool matches, and also progressing through the last two knockout rounds.

The game will be played in front of a large crowd, with Oaklands School having the advantage of the home support.

Coach Barry Woollands said "The school have been good and will let classes come out to watch the game and support the team. There should be a great atmosphere."

Paul Dolan from Elmwood is excited his team have made the final.

"We were knocked out in the first round last year. We learnt some lessons from this and have come back stronger this year. The impact the team have made by getting to the school has been outstanding. The whole school just seem to want to play cricket at the moment," Dolan said.

With the weather forecasting a bright clear day, the final should live up to all expectations and be a close, hard fought affair.
