Selections

The only change to the Western Warriors ING Cup team that lost by 10 runs to the Victorian Bushrangers at the MCG on 23 December 2001 is Rob Baker to replace Murray Goodwin.

Rob Baker has been selected to play his first game for the Western Warriors since making 42no v NSW at the WACA ground on 21st January 2000, in a winning Mercantile Mutual Cup team.

Baker's career received a major setback when he contracted chronic fatigue syndrome during season 1999-2000 and has since been steadily working his way back into full health and form, culminating in his return to the Warrior's team for this game.

On his selection Baker said, "It's always an honour to be selected to play for WA so I'm really just honoured to be selected. It's been a long road for me getting back into the WA team so I'll be treating this game like it's my first and making the most of the experience."

Baker has scored 253 runs at 50.6 at second XI level for WA in the ACB Cup and scored 210 runs at 35 and taken 8 wickets at 16.87 at first grade level for Scarborough in the Sunsmart League.

The Western Warriors are currently situated in 3rd position on the ING Cup ladder on 13 points - five points behind both QLD Bulls and the NSW Blues.
