Lara dislocates elbow
Wisden CricInfo staff - December 15, 2001

KANDY, Sri Lanka (Reuters)
Brian Lara has suffered a suspected dislocated left elbow after a collision with a fielder in the West Indies' LG Abans triangular one-day eight-wicket defeat by Sri Lanka.

Lara was forced out of the match and probably the rest of the tournament when he collided with fielder Marvan Atapattu at the non-striker's end.

Lara set off for a quick single and Atapattu, fielding the ball at covers, ran in to throw the wicket down. The players ran into each other and Lara was left clutching his left arm in agony.

Lara was carried off on a stretcher and taken to the Kandy General Hospital for X-rays from where he will be transferred by helicopter to Colombo.

West Indies manager Ricky Skerritt said that Lara had a dislocation of the left elbow.
