Most students are used to spinning romantic yarns about living on a sixpence, but Durham University and England's James Foster has a memory that money can't buy – today he became the first person to stump Sachin Tendulkar in a Test (though he has been stumped eight times in one-day internationals). Since Tendulkar made his Test debut in November 1989, 21 other wicketkeepers have had the dubious privilege of watching the Little Master wreak havoc. The list includes the great (Ian Healy); the very good (Mark Boucher, Ian Smith and Jack Russell); the not-so-great (Nadeem Abbasi and Richard Blakey); two of the greatest wicketkeeper-batsmen of all time (Adam Gilchrist and Andy Flower); and a couple of de Silvas nobody has heard of (Ashley and Lanka).

But Foster trumped them all. Tendulkar gave Ashley Giles the charge, missed, and Foster crisply whipped the bails off. Many tall tales will be told in Students' Union bars over the next 12 months, but Foster's is a rarity - his story will actually be well worth listening to.
