The Barbados Nation How the Bajan team rated
1 February 2001

Haydn Gill rates the performances of the Barbados team in their fourth-round Busta match against England A which ended on Monday (maximum rating is 10):

Adrian Griffith (8.5): Played a very important, fighting second innings knock of 84. The loose manner of the dismissals, however, was a let-down.

Philo Wallace (3): A match he will quickly want to forget because of his intended hook that found the deep square-leg fielder. Was also out in disappointing fashion for a duck in the second innings.

Sean Armstrong (5): He looked solid in both innings without carrying on for a significant score.

Ryan Hinds (6.5): Also batted solidly in both innings and his second innings contribution helped save the match. However, as a batsman with so much potential, he needs to be scoring more than 20s and 30s.

Roland Holder (5.5): Uncommon to see him outfoxed by bowlers cheaply in both innings of the same match. Could not be faulted for either of his dismissals.

Courtney Browne (6.5): As a batsman, he batted with hardly any problems in both innings without going on to a major score. His second innings contribution was also crucial in Barbados earning in draw. His wicket-keeping was of a decent standard.

Ian Bradshaw (9): Showed tremendous character in scoring a maiden first-class century with a bout of the flu amidst calls for his axing as captain and player. Also did well to come back to take three wickets after a whipping on the opening day.

Dave Marshall (5): His leg-breaks were mainly a non-factor. Lacked control on too many occasions. Helped Barbados to a draw by batting for the final hour-and-a-half of the match.

Hendy Bryan (8): Bowled impressively and probably deserved more than his haul of four wickets. His poor run with the batcontinued however, and was out to a careless stroke from a full-toss.

Ryan Austin (6): The rookie off-spinner bowled well for most of the first day without many rewards. Could only get better. Also batted with guts for almost two hours in the first innings to allow his captain to reach a century.

Corey Collymore (6.5): Another decent effort without reproducing his top form of the first match.
