MTN WP captain HD Ackerman (88not out) lead the Western Gladiators to a convincing 7 wicket win over the Southern Stormers in a WPCA Regional Competition match at Newlands on Friday evening.

Batting first the Southern Stormers struggled to 170 all out in 44.2 overs. Only J P Duminy(46)and Faldie Abdurouf(41)were able to counter the Gladiators attack. Achmat Galant(3/30), Lester Esterhuizen(2/32), Paul Harris(1/18) and Richard Gibbs(3/27) were chief wicket takers for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators reached the target in 37 overs with provincial opening bat Graeme Smith scoring 56 and MTN WP captain HD Ackerman 88 not out.
