X-ray gives Solanki the all-clear
Staff and agencies - 10 February 2001

England A all-rounder Vikram Solanki has been given the all-clear after fears that he had broken a finger.

He damaged his hand while fielding in the slips on the first day of the Busta Cup match against the Windward islands in St Lucia.

His finger was gashed as he tried to stop the ball and he left the field immediately, holding his left hand and in obvious pain.

But coach Peter Moores said the X-ray showed there was no break, though Solanki did need seven stitches. He may still bat in this match if required but he will not field.

Solanki is the tourists' fourth highest scorer with 214 runs so far in the Busta Cup and has taken a remarkable 20 catches in the slips.
