Dawn Condon praises Pakistan
12 February 2001

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Lt Gen Tauqir Zia met International Cricket Council anti-corruption chief Sir Paul Condon in Australia and discussed matters relating to match-fixing.

PCB chairman met Sir Condon on Friday and discussed match-fixing matters at length, PCB director operation Brig Munawwar Rana said from Australia.

Rana said Sir Condon praised Pakistan's efforts to hold an inquiry and penalised the players involved. Pakistan cricket chief demanded ICC must complete its investigation in other countries before demanding Pakistan to complete World Cup allegations of match-fixing.

"PCB chairman told Sir Condon that Pakistan took the lead and wants that other enquiries should also be completed," Rana said. Rana said that ICC) has awarded the right to host the ICC Knockout 2002 event to India while Pakistan will be the second choice.
