Barbados all-rounder Ryan Hinds has taken fifteen wickets in his team's six-wicket Busta Cup win over the Leeward Islands on Monday.

The captain of the West Indies Under-19 team at the last Youth World Cup, Hinds, who turns twenty on Saturday, took 6/34 in the Leewards' second innings at Grove Park, Charlestown, Nevis as the home side was dismissed for 115. The Leewards collapsed after resuming overnight at 91 for 4.

On Saturday, Hinds had broken the record for the most wickets taken in an innings in West Indian regional first-class competition, the left-arm spinner picking up nine wickets for 68 runs. Hinds finished the match with a haul of 15 for 102.

Not everything went Hinds' way in this game, however. He was reported for showing dissent when given out caught behind while batting in the Barbados first innings on Saturday. As a result, match referee Carlisle Powell imposed a fine of 50 per cent of Hinds' match fee, along with a one-match suspension. That suspension has, in itself, been suspended for six months.

Hinds' match-haul was the third-best in the history of West Indian regional competition, which began under the name of the Shell Shield in 1966. Rajindra Dhanraj took 16/167 for Trinidad & Tobago against Leeward Islands in 1996, while Derick Parry took 15/101 for Combined Islands against Jamaica in 1980.

Barbados needed 99 runs in their second innings for victory, which they achieved for the loss of four wickets.

In Monday's other Busta Cup result, Guyana and Jamaica played out a dull draw at Albion. Guyana, in their second innings, advanced to 130 for 4, batting all day to score 107 runs in five hours before the match was called off. Azeemul Haniff registering an even half-century, scored in four and a quarter hours. Guyana picked up first innings points, thanks mainly to Carl Hooper's century on Saturday.

On Sunday, Trinidad and Tobago defeated West Indies B, while England A completed an innings victory over the Windward Islands.

The weekend's results put England A into first place in the eight-team competition. Barbados move up to share second spot with Guyana, while last week's leaders Leeward Islands slip back to fourth. Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago are still within striking range for a semi-final place.
